Mondo Loops Intimate Felt Piano is a sampled upright piano instrument for Native Instruments KONTAKT, designed to deliver a soft, warm and naturally textured sound. Based on a double-felted Kawai KU3B upright piano, it captures the intimate character of felt piano recordings, making it suitable for compositions that require a restrained and expressive acoustic tone.
The instrument includes three distinct sample sets: Felt, Tape and Mute. Each provides a different interpretation of the original piano, ranging from natural felt textures to nostalgic tape coloration and a softer, more percussive muted-string sound.
With 88-key sampling, multiple velocity layers, round-robin variations and detailed sound controls, the instrument gives composers flexibility when shaping piano performances. Its microphone blending and adjustable mechanical noises also make it possible to create anything from close, dry recordings to more spacious and atmospheric textures.

Software OverviewIntimate Felt Piano focuses on the subtle details of a felted upright piano rather than the bright, polished character of a conventional piano library. The recorded instrument retains its natural playing nuances, creating a sound suited to delicate melodies, understated harmonic arrangements and emotionally driven compositions.
Three sample sets provide different tonal characteristics. Felt preserves the soft and intimate sound of the double-felted Kawai KU3B. Tape uses denser felt material that was recorded to tape, slowed slightly and retuned to produce a warmer, nostalgic character. Mute features physically muted strings, resulting in a tighter and more subdued sound with a percussive quality.
The sound-shaping section provides independent controls for felt noise, pedal release, hammer release and room noise, including player-related sounds. Users can also blend stereo condenser, ribbon and room microphones to adjust the balance between direct piano detail and room ambience. Individual pad controls are available for each sample set.
